How to Recognize a Stroke
Remember the first three letters... S - T - RSmile, Talk, Raise both Arms You might just save someone's life!!! S - Ask the person to SMILE. T - Ask the person to TALK, to speak a simple sentence coherently (i.e. It is sunny out today). R - Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.
Another good sign of a stroke is this: Ask the person to stick out their toungue. If the tongue is crooked and goes to one side or the other it is also a good indication of a stroke. If the person has trouble with any of these tasks, call 9-1-1 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.
